SALEM, N.H. —
Construction is underway on the Tuscan Village project in Salem, which is being built on the grounds of the historic Rockingham Park racetrack.
The racetrack closed in 2016, and Joe Faro, owner of the Tuscan Kitchen restaurant, came up with the idea for the Tuscan Village project. When it’s complete, the development will span 170 acres and 2.7 million square feet.
“To see it come out of the ground, I have to tell you, it’s really gratifying,” Faro said.
The plan includes preserving some of the history of the property.
“We have luxury hotel-style apartment buildings,” Faro said. “We have an independent living facility that we are doing, as well. We have got 700,000 feet of retail, a movie theater, 11 different restaurants, a 154-room hotel.”
